Hanover, MD, United States, via ETELIGIS INC., 10/03/2012 - - Brekford Corp. (OTCBB, OTCQB: "BFDI")("Brekford" or "the Company"), a leading provider of public safety technology and automated traffic enforcement solutions, vehicle upfitting, and rugged mobile technology, today announced that it has been awarded contracts with a cumulative value of approximately $2.2 million for vehicle upfitting services from an unnamed Federal law enforcement agency and a quasi-government electric power utility located in the Eastern U.S.
The contract with the quasi-government utility, which is valued at up to $1.6 million, represents a blanket purchase agreement for the purchase and installation of up to 283 rugged IT Panasonic Toughbook mobile computers, along with related communications and computer vehicle mounting equipment, during the fourth quarter of 2012.
The Company also announced that an unnamed Federal law enforcement agency that consists of a headquarters component, 25 field divisions, a National Academy and numerous field locations, has awarded Brekford a $0.6 million contract for the comprehensive upfitting of a variety of equipment configurations for over 160 vehicles. The Company expects to fulfill its delivery requirements under the terms of this contract during the quarter ending December 31, 2012.
"While Brekford is best known for the provision of vehicle upfitting services for state, county and municipal law enforcement agencies, we are pleased to report that our upfitting business continues to expand geographically and in terms of the types of customers served," noted C.B. Brechin, Chief Executive Officer of Brekford Corp. "The Federal contract was received from a major law enforcement arm of the U.S. government and involves the provisioning of vehicles that will be deployed in multiple locations throughout the U.S. We are optimistic that the number of vehicles upfitted for this agency may expand significantly based upon our ability to meet or exceed customer expectations, and we also believe the contract will lay the groundwork for future business with other large federal agencies."
"The contract with the East Coast utility follows an initial multi-million-dollar purchase of rugged IT equipment and upfitting services last year from the same customer, and the law enforcement contract further expands our reach within the Federal procurement system. When combined with our expanding relationships with non-Federal law enforcement agencies, we view our vehicle upfitting business as a sound foundation upon which Brekford's can expand its Automated Traffic Enforcement business in Maryland and other states in the eastern and midwestern U.S."
